Sundae, July 18th 2021

A favorite dessert any time of the year, ice cream seems to taste especially delicious in the summertime. A good ice cream cone has the ability to conjure the sweet nostalgia of childhood indulgence and carry with it the rosy aura of warm-weather fun.

Recollections of Roslyn’s past often tell of the scrumptious frozen confections served by several village shops including Pearsall’s General Store, Pickard’s Pharmacy, Roslyn Candy Kitchen, Nassau Ice Cream Co., Weed’s Ice Cream, and Snow White Bake Shop.

For the occasion of National Ice Cream Day (which is always celebrated on the third Sunday of July) we’ve gathered some items and images related to the historic Roslyn businesses that sold and served this frosty treat.
